Atonement celebrates two services every Sunday.

8:30am
This service changes very little from week to week.

  • Almost all year long we use the musical setting from the Lutheran Book of Worship (LBW - Green Book) that has been in use for about 20 years here at Atonement.
  • During Advent and Lent we use a version of this same service supplemented by seasonal options:
    • Advent includes lighting of the Advent Wreath and a Children's emphasis
    • Lent includes an extended penitential order at the beginning the service.
  • During the Epiphany Season (January) we are a bit more adventurous. We had been using a musical setting from the With One Voice (WOV - Blue Book) worship supplement that has been available about 10 years. This year we tried setting "10" from the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW - Red Book.)

10:45am
Starting this past Advent, we began using setting "8" from the new Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW - Red book.) This has proven to be a popular option, appealing to both "traditional" worshippers and those looking for a more contemporary style. We think it has received such positive response because it uses rather familiar words set to very contemporary music suited well for our expanded band.

In addition to our Sunday services, we enjoy Wednesday Night Church Night from September through May and a Thursday night service during the summer (for worshippers who can't make the regular sunday services).

And, in the summer, if you cannot join us on Sunday, please consider our Thursday evening service at 7pm (preceded by a picnic supper at 6pm)

General Information for all worship services at Atonement:

  • Holy Communion is a part of our worship each week. Communion may be taken by common cup or by individual glass. If you prefer an individual glass please pick one up on your way to the altar from the trays at the front of your pews. All communicant members of the Christian Church, who believe in the real presence of Christ in the Sacrament are welcome to receive Holy Communion. Children who do not commune may come forward for a blessing.

  • Visitors are asked to please sign our guest book, which is located in the outer narthex.

  • Prayer requests for the intercessory prayer team may be made by filling out a form found with the prayer request box located at the back of the sanctuary.

  • "Thinking of You" postcards are located in the back of the sanctuary and in many of the pews. You may write a note to people who you miss seeing on Sunday mornings. Please take the time to remember the sick, shut-ins and those who are not in regular attendance at worship. We will mail them if you leave them in the box at the rear of the sanctuary.

  • Restrooms are available in the main hallway to the north of the sanctuary. The men's room is next to the church office and the ladies' room is located off the little hallway leading to the coffee shop. Handicap bathrooms are located in the Kiesewetter Center.

  • An elevator is available which can access all levels of the church. If an elevator operator is not present ask an usher.

  • Babysitting for infants and young children is available in the daycare wing during all Sunday services.

  • Join us for coffee and donuts in the coffee shop between services. The coffee shop is located to the left of the parking lot entrance to the church as you come in the back door.

  • Note: handicap accessible building
