  • Summer Messenger Schedule - Next Messenger will be 7/13

As it was last year, the Messenger will be printed every other week during the months of July and August. Each issue will have the weekly events and assisting schedules for two weeks. If something critical arises and we need to get the word out, we will publish a "special" issue.

The planned publication dates are: July 13, July 27, August 10, and August 24. The regular weekly schedule resumes with the September 7 issue.

  • Word [WURD] of the Week

preacher -- [pree-cher] a person whose occupation or function it is to preach the gospel; a person who preaches (like you).

One of my professors at seminary addressed us as preachers - he was not my preaching professor either. Not all of us in the classroom are going to become pastors - there are many other degree options in seminary. I have to confess that it took me a while to get past the “preachers are pastors” mentality. Truthfully, if preaching the gospel were left only to pastors, we'd be in a world of hurt.

You're a preacher. You don't need a pulpit to preach. You don't need to wear a robe to preach. You don't even need words to preach. We all know the good news when we hear it and see it and live it. And when we forget the good news, well, that's when we need those around us to remind us of that good news - to speak it to us, to live it for us so that we might be reminded of this powerful good news that cannot be contained.
