Sponsor a Camper
Lake Chautauqua Lutheran Center is not just a summer camp. The LCLC staff are disciples of God who share their faith and inspire the lives of campers of all ages. For several years now, we have been blessed by the generosity of this congregation that has allowed Atonement's kids to experience LCLC. We believe, as does LCLC, that no one should be denied Christ's love at LCLC for financial reasons.
If you would like to make a cash contribution to the Campership Fund, please deliver your check, payable to Atonement Lutheran Church with the information below, to the Church Office. Any amount is welcome, but we encourage you to consider sponsorship of an individual camper for $75.00.

Sixth Sunday of Easter - Psalm 66
Our Psalm series continues with Psalm 66, which tells an interesting tale. The beginning of the Psalm is a fairly typical praise-and-worship anthem to God, who has done great and wonderful things. Then we move into the testing: that the people have had to face ordeals and difficulties despite their trust in God. It is interesting to note that the people have had to go "through fire and water" (v.12), even though God has turned the sea into dry land (v.6), and all the earth worships God (v.4). Something to be learned from the writer of this Psalm is, even though we trust in God, sometimes life can be tough. Sometimes life can feel overbearing, like there are people walking on top of you (v. 12).
Despite all of this, the Psalmist is still excited, still passionate about God, and thankful for "all that God has done for me" (v. 16). And the writer takes amazing comfort in the fact that God has listened. God listens to us, and hears the prayers we lift up. This psalm ends with words that can fill our hearts with gladness: Blessed be God, because God has not rejected my prayer, or removed love from me.
Let us pray, Listening God, you hear the cries of all people, of all of your creation. Guide us to trust in you, and to continue lifting prayers despite all the difficulties we face. In your holy name we pray, Amen.

Making the Lord's Prayer Our Own
One of the few and perhaps the only passage of scripture that we can quote from memory is the Lord's Prayer. But because we can "quote it" doesn't mean we "know it." You are invited to be a part of the adult discussion series entitled "Making the Lord's Prayer Our Own." Beginning on Wednesday, April 16, the series will run for 6 weeks, led by Pastor Peter. Each Wednesday, there will be two identical sessions, one at Noon and the other at 7pm. All sessions will meet in the coffee shop.
