- All Saints' Sunday - November 4, 2007
All Saints' Sunday is the church "Memorial Day." It is a time to remember all of the faithful who live with God in his eternal kingdom. On Sunday, November 4, those of our church family who have died in the past twelve months will be remembered:
- Linda Joyce Covich
- David A. Edmonds
- Toni Flohr
- Jane House
- Carol Palmer
- Dennis Shay
- Ruth V. Simmons
- George Harold Taylor
- Doris Yackel
- Edward Paul Zych
As usual, special music with guest instrumentalists will be presented in memory of those who died during the last year.
We will observe the regular worship schedule: 8:30am and 10:45am in the Sanctuary (W. Glen Ave) and 9am at St. Paul's (Rt. 80) in Fabius.
- It IS This Weekend!
Don't forget to set your clocks back this weekend. Clocks "fall" back the first week-end in November this year!

Crafty Ladyes Bazaar is coming!
The Crafty Ladyes are collecting your unwanted treasures that someone else is waiting to enjoy. This year we are accepting new and almost new, clean, clothes (on hangars or folded). Your treasures can be dropped off at church (downstairs, the second door to the right on the way into the Fellowship Hall). Mark your calendars now! The bazaar will be November 10, 2007.
This year, we will have a drawing for a Vera Bradley bag (pictured here), generously donated by Linda and John Owens. To purchase a ticket, see one of the "Ladyes." Drawing will be at the bazaar on November 10.
- Women of the ELCA Report from the State Convention
The Women of the ELCA held their state convention at Camp of the Woods, Speculator, NY on October 19-21. Representing Atonement were Susan Scharoun, Missy Wilber, and Karen Douglass.
The theme of the weekend was "Act Boldly in God's Creation." We were near Lake Pleasant and the trees were in beautiful autumn colors.
Our keynote speaker was Tom Porter, Chief Spirtual Leader of the Mohawk Community of Kanatsiohareke. Besides business, there were workshops, services, and time for fun.
Susan Scharoun was elected Treasurer and Karen Douglass was elected to the synodical board. Karen has also been promoter for the Triennial Convention in Salt Lake City in July 2008.
Missy Wilber served as leader of the Kids Konvention for the weekend for parents and grandparents who brought children. She did a great job including leading us in grace at a couple of our meals!
The picture, above, is part of a skit some of the ladies and children did on Sunday morning to promote the trip to Salt Lake City.
- Remember the Food Pantry
The holidays are fast approaching, and with them, the increased need for food for holiday meals and staples for our food pantry. Please remember to bring food pantry items to church with you on Sunday or drop them off in the church office during the week.
- Notes from Our Church Council
- Reports from the staff, organizations and comittees were read and accepted.
- President Susan Scharoun and Pastor Gaetz will be representing Atonement at the Lutheran Homes annual meeting to be held in November.
- At this point we are still waiting for quotes on the building construction. Stay tuned....
- A Note from the
Stewardship Committee
The Stewardship Committee has been working on the Fall Stewardship Campaign. You will be receiving a letter from them sometime in November. In the meantime, they ask that you consider the following....
What expenses for the house of God have you taken the time to appreciate lately?
Did you know that the church income depends on you? More than a third of this year's budget comes from congregational giving. Please pray about how much your family can give this upcoming year.
Thanks for your anticipated support, as the Church Council works to prepare the 2008 Church Budget.
- Through the Roof Resumes
"Through the Roof," a program for developmentally disabled adults resumes on Saturday, November 3 (and will be held the first Saturday each month after that) at 10:30am, running through 1pm - at the Fabius Community Center.
Each week there will be a non-denominational program of Prayer and Praise Worship, Experiential Christian Learning, and Fellowship over lunch. There is no cost, but a free will offering will be accepted.
