  • CROP WALK

Annual Crop Walk in Syracuse - October 14 - Noon-4pm

"We will walk with each other, we will walk hand in hand...and they'll know we are Christians by our Love."

All Atonement youth in grades 4 through 12 are invited to "Walk with the World," by participating in the annual CROP Walk on October 14. Last year CROP Hunger Walks raised more than $15 million to support the hunger-fighting work of local food banks around the block and of Church World Service around the world.

All members of the Atonement family are invited to help fight world hunger and support our youth by donating to CROP Walk. Youth will be collecting donations after all services on October 14.

WHERE: This year, Atonement youth will be joining Syracuse University's Lutheran Campus Ministry in honor of the ELCA's celebration of 100 years of Campus Ministry and of the installation of the Rev. Dr. Gail Riina as LCM chaplain. We will walk with the Syracuse University CROP Walk contingent and join the Downtown Syracuse CROP Walk.

WHEN: October 14. We will leave Atonement at NOON, travel to the SU Campus, walk to Columbus Circle and then do the short downtown CROP Walk loop. We will return to Atonement between 3:30 & 4pm

RSVP: Please let us know you are coming by October 10.

CONTACT: Judy Holmes (673-9393; e-mail EWHolmes@att.net), Janet Holmgren (677-3846) or Pastor Rodgers (492-9065).

  • WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 10TH Schedule Change

Just in case you get the Messenger in time.... Wednesday, October 10th is shaping up as a very busy day. In an effort to fit everything in there will be a bit of a shift in schedule:

    • 10:00am Crafty Ladies will meet in the Coffee Shop for their usual Wednesday activities.
    • 11:30am Pastor Gaetz's Bible Class will meet in the Coffee Shop. Because this class will be a bit shorter than usual he asks participants to read the New Testament book of Philemon in preparation for classÉ it's short É just one page.
    • 12:15pm Jolly Dollies and Gents will meet in the chapel. The evening schedule of activities and worship will be unchanged.

  • Crafty Ladyes Bazaar is coming!

The Crafty Ladyes are collecting your unwanted treasures that someone else is waiting to enjoy. This year we are accepting new and almost new, clean, clothes (on hangars or folded). Your treasures can be dropped off at church (downstairs, the second door to the right on the way into the Fellowship Hall). Mark your calendars now! The bazaar will be November 10, 2007.

This year, we will have a drawing for a Vera Bradley bag (pictured here), generously donated by Linda and John Owens. To purchase a ticket, see one of the "Ladyes." Drawing will be at the bazaar on November 10.

  • We Need Your Help!

Donations are needed for the Atonement Childcare Center. Our classroom "dramatic play" areas are in need of old telephones (corldess, cell, etc.) and dress-up clothes (suitcoats, dresses, dance costumes, Halloween costumes, etc.), and additional items like purses, brief cases, etc. If you can help, please drop off your items at the center or church office.

Questions? Contact Pam Coppola at 492-7407.
