  • Lent Adult Study & Mid-Week Worship

There will be a number of worship and study opportunities each week. This year we'll be trying everything together under one theme - "Word and World." In a variety of ways and settings we'll be looking at ways the Bible speaks about God's activity in real life situations and real life people. We'll look at some the Ten Commandments and some Bible Stories on the various subjects and then the "news of our day."

  • Annnual Volleyball Fundraiser

On March 12-13th, several of our teens will be participating in an all-night Volleyball Marathon at Syracuse University to raise money for Lutheran Charities of Central New York.

Will you consider helping to sponsor our team financially? Funds raised will support local Lutheran Charities:
Donations will go to The Samaritan Counseling Center, Vanderkamp Center, The Watertown Urban mission, The Luther Campus Ministry, LutherCare Ministries Network, Appleseed Scene I, The Ministry of the Central Crossroads Conference, The Mohawk Valley Lutheran Confirmation Camp (MVLCC).

Donations in any amount will be gratefully accepted on Sunday, March 7, 2010 between and after worship services.

Last year, Michele Lindor, Casey Draper, and Stacey Draper were among those who attended. Our congregation contributed $150 of the over $3,000 raised. Wouldn't it be great to exceed those numbers?!

  • Harriet Tubman & Sojourner Truth March 10

Harriet Tubman, died 1913; Sojourner Truth, died 1883; renewers of society

Harriet Tubman (born Araminta "Minty" Ross) and Sojourner Truth (born Isabella Baumfree) were African-American women who were both born into slavery and with their own hard-fought freedom helped a nation to become free. On June 1, 1843, Isabella changed her name to Sojourner Truth telling her friends, "The Spirit calls me, and I must go." The Spirit however was calling both of these women to faith-filled action. In a time when there were those who twisted the meaning of the Scriptures to justify slavery --including not a few white preachers -- these women knew as did many others that our God led the Israelites from slavery in Egypt into the freedom of the Promised Land; just as our Lord Jesus Christ lifts us from the bondage to sin into the real freedom of living in Him. These aren't just words. These aren't just nice sentiments. This is the powerful truth of the gospel. Without Christ none of us are travelling on that Freedom Road.

  • Envelopes and Heat!

It costs just about $5 to purchase and mail the offering envelopes. Please help us to cover those costs by putting $5 (or more!) in that "initial" offering. We mailed out 200 envelopes, but so far, only about 37 initial offerings have come in. If you have not yet returned yours, please do so soon, so we can clear the budget on envelopes!

And while you are digging around in that box of envelopes, please pull out the Fuel envelope and make a generous contribution to keep us warm!

  • DonŐt Forget! - March 14 begins Daylight Saving Time

On the second Sunday in March, clocks are set ahead one hour at 2:00 a.m. local standard time, which becomes 3:00 a.m. local daylight time. Think of it as our first big step towards longer days and warmer weather.

  • Learning at the Crossroads

The issues we see in the church and in general society today did not drop on us suddenly. The dramatic changes in society in the wake of the Sixties not surprisingly planted the seeds of the changes we have faced and are facing as a church. We will spend our day examining both what has changed in the past 45 years and how we as Lutherans continue to respond to those changes.
