Atonement Lutheran Church - Memorials

From time to time the Messenger acknowledges memorial Contributions received by the church. Whenever such contributions are received, the church office sends out a "Thank You" card to the donor and notice to family or others designated by the donor to receive that notice. The money is then placed in a restricted fund. There are a number of such restricted funds:

• Renovation Fund - designated for work on the portions of the church building not renovated in the Atonement Renewal Campaign of ten years ago.

• Music Fund - designated for special music and/or guest instrumentalists, often specific to seasons such as Christmas and Easter.

• General Memorial - receives all small amounts and any money not specifically designated by the donor for a special purpose.

In addition to these formal ongoing Memorial Funds, there are other Funds into which you can make donations that are acknowledged in other ways:

• Flower Fund - Donations of $40 purchase Altar Flowers for one week and are acknowledged in the Sunday Bulletin.

• Sanctuary Candle - Donations of $10 purchase one month of the red Sanctuary Candle in the Main Sanctuary or Fabius Sanctuary and are acknowledged in the appropriate Bulletins.

AND, large gifts ($1,000 or more) can be placed in Named Funds for specific purposes such as Christian Education, Scholarships, Benevolent Causes, etc. Gifts such as these can me made at any time and are most appreciated. For more information, contact Pastor Gaetz.

Finally, even larger gifts ($5,000 or more) may be used to begin an Endowment Fund where the donor's gift is invested and only income is spent for the designated purpose.
